Gerard James Butler was born on 13 November, 1969, in paisley, Scotland. He is a famous actor.
Butler is the youngest of three children of Margaret and Edward Butler. He was brought up in a strict Roman Catholic family, and spent the first few years of his life in Montreal, before his family moved back in Scotland.
He is involved with Not On Our Watch, an organization that focuses global attention and resources to stop and prevent mass atrocities, along with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and George Clooney. Butler was cast as Ewan McGregor's character Renton in the stage adaptation of Trainspotting, the same play that ha
d inspired him to become an actor. His film debut was as Billy Connolly's younger brother in Mrs. Brown.
In the year of 2000, he was cast in two important roles, the first was Attila the Hun in USA film Attila (2001/I) (TV). Although the film's producers wanted a known actor to play the part, he kept coming back to Butler's screen tests and decided he was their man. He was cast as Dracula in Dracula 2000. Butler then appeared in Reign of Fire (2002) as Creedy and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) as Terry Sheridan, alongside Angelina Jolie.
In 2007, Butler starred as Leonidas the Spartan King in the Warner Bros. production 300. Because he wanted to look strong in the film, Butler trained with a high-intensity workout for four months prior to the film’s shooting.
As for his recent work, in 2010 he starred in the action/comedy The Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Aniston, and lent his voice to the 2010 animated film How to Train Your Dragon as Stoick the Vast.
