George Steinbrenner (birth name George Michael Steinbrenner III) was born on July 4, 1930 in Rocky River, Ohio, USA. He is a wealthy businessman and also owner of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees.
Biography and Career :
He is a great businessman who is now (2007) one of the wealthiest people on Earth. As an intelligent person he is, he achieved success and fame and became an important name in the baseball world.
He studied at the Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana and the Williams College located in western Massachusetts. On May 12, 1956 he married Joan Zieg and now the couple has four children.
As owner of the Yankees the club has won 10 pennants and 6 World Series titles. He became the first owner to sell TV cable rights and he was the one who innovated
this game from this point of view. He was also the one who brought John McLendon, the first African-American head coach in professional sports.
Now he is a billionaire and is sometimes invited at television show. In 1990 he participated at "Saturday Night Live" and appeared in the Albert Brooks comedy "The Scout". He is one of the characters in the situation comedy "Seinfeld". We are sure he will continue doing money and will be part of the history, although he already is.
