George Catlin
George Catlin (1796-1872) was an American painter and explorer.
Short Biography:
From the 1830s he made a series of visits to the Great Plains, painting landscapes and scenes of American Indian life.
He produced an exhibition of over 500 paintings with which he toured America and Europe.
His style is factual, with dose attention to detail. Many of his pictures are in the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC.
