Gabriel Liiceanu was born on May 23, 1942 in Ramnicu-Valcea, Romania. He is a Romanian philosopher.
Biography and Career :
He was a young search worker at the Institute of Philosophy in the 70's before he became Noica's favorite pupil at the school in Paltinis. Gabriel Liiceanu wrote "Journal from Paltinis" and "Epistolar", those works having an important echo among the men of culture at that time. The theme of Liiceanu's thinking was an existential and agnostically one. The main idea of Liiceanu's writings was that any real knowledge cannot have a correspondent among real problem.
His ideas were influenced by Platon's philosophy. In his work "About Limit" Liiceanu reveals his erred that man should take his own chances, should have free opinion and free decision. It is als
o revealed the necessity of history. Gabriel Liiceanu is the President of the Humanitas Editure and the chair leader of Romanian Society of Phenomenology.
