Gabriel Cotabita was born November 1, 1955 in Craiova, Romania. He is a famous Romanian singer.

Biography and Career :

His primary studies were done in Local School No. 11 from his native town. After that he studied at "Nicolae Balcescu High-School" (now "Carol 1") in Craiova.

Gabriel Cotabita graduated the "Electrotechnic Institute" in Craiova. Between 1967 and 1969 he is a student at the School of Popular Art.

He settled down himself in Bucharest in 1987 and got involved in music.

He had his debut in rock music in 1975, with the band Redivivus, becoming a star of the type.

Between 1979 - 1980, Gabriel Cotabita joins "Basorelief" music band and they have some concerts at the seaside.

In 1983, Holograf asks him to be a member of the group. Together, they release an album, "Holograf 1".

In 1990, Gabriel Cotabita has his first recital at Mamaia Festival. He is the showman at Bucharest festival in 1991. The next year, he performes on the stage of the international festival "Cerbul de Aur".

In 1995, he makes his debue as a song writer at Mamaia festival, with the song "Amintirea ta", performed by Nicoleta Ciopraga.

In 1998, he makes the first regulations for the same festival, but they are not respected. This fact determines him to refuse taking part in the next two editions of the show.

Two years later, he makes a featuring on Cornel Fugaru's disk, "In the name of the music". In 2002, he founds the band VH1 with Mihai Pocorschi.

He is awarded the Honor Diploma of the Ministry of Culture "O zi printre stele", in May 2002.

In 2003 Gabriel Cotabita is the presenter of the international show, Callatis.

Gabriel Cotabita has one of the largest fan clubs in the country, founded in 1991.
