
Gabriel Bostina was born on May 22, 1977 in Gura-Vaii, Mehedinti, Romania. He is a famous Romanian football player.
Biography and Career
He started playing football when he was very young but his first professional football team was Severnav Turnu-Severin in C Division (third Romanian League).
In 1998 was transferred in the B Division (second Romanian League) at Cimentul Fieni, where he played 30 games and scored 9 times. He was remarked and managed to sign a contract with an A Division team (first Romanian League), Otelul Galati.
He played 3 seasons for Otelul Galati (1999-2002) and his best performance here was the fifth place in the last season.
In 2002 Mihai Stoica, the president of Otelul Galati, became general manager at Steaua Bucharest and he took with him so
me players, including Gabriel Bostina.
In the season 2004-2005, after 2 seasons without many positive results, Steaua Bucharest with Bostina as a titular player and Walter Zenga as coach won the champion title.
They succeeded the same performance in the next season and Bostina scored four times in 27 games.
At the beginning of the season 2006-2007 after some conflicts with Gigi Becali, the boss from Steaua, about his extra-sportive life he lost his place in the first "eleven".
In 2003 he made his debut in UEFA Cup with Steaua and he played in 6 games. The next season Steaua qualified in the UEFA groups phase and more than this they eliminated in 1/16 finals Valencia, the ex-winner of UEFA Cup.
In 2005 after they lost the chance to play in UEFA Champions League groups because they were eliminated by Rosenborg, they continued their international adventure in UEFA Cup and had fantastic results. They defeated teams like Lens, Heerenven, Betis Sevilla and their traditional Romanian rival Rapid Bucharest in the quarter finals, but unfortunately for them they were eliminated in the semi-final by Middlebrough.
In the next season they succeeded, after 10 years to play again in UEFA Champions League Groups after they eliminated Standard Liege. They played in a group with Real Madrid, Olympique Lyon and Dynamo Kiev.
For the Romanian national team Bostina debuted on the 12th of November 2005 against Ivory Coast in a friendly game played in France. He also played another 3 games against Nigeria, Uruguay and Northern Ireland.
