Fred Armisen was born and brought up in Valley Stream, Long Island, New York, USA and he is the son of Venezuelan mother and German and Japanese ancestry father. He did his schooling at School of Visual Arts (NYC). He the second Asian - American cast member of SNL and he was also the second Hispanic-American cast member. He is the only and the oldest cast member of SNL after Darrell Hammond left during the beginning of the 35th season.
He started his acting career in 1988. He then shifted to Chicago to play the drums for the punk rock band Trenchmouth. He later played the background drums with the Blue M
an Group in Chicago during the 1990's. He traveled with Those Bastards Souls in1977 which was a project of David Shouse. He has also played the drums for Les Savvy's Fav's album "Let's Stay Friends" in 2007.
As he was playing the drums for Trenchmouth he started acting in movies and TV shows. He has done a few supporting roles in comedy movies like Eurotrip, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Deck the Halls, The EX, The Promotion, The Rocker and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
