Fra Angelico (real name Guido di Pietro), c. 1400-1455, was an Italian painter of religious scenes, active in Florence.
Short Biography:
He was a monk and painted a series of frescoes at the monastery of San Marco, Florence, begun after 1436.
He also produced several altarpieces in a simple style. His other fresco sequences, Scenes from the Life of Christ Orvieto Cathedra and Scenes front the Lives of SS Stephen and Lawrence 1440's (Chapel of Nicholas V, Vatican Palace), are more elaborate.
