The band Foo Fighters is an American Hard rock band from the state of Seattle, Washington in the USA. They formed in the year 1994.
Career:
Their lead Drummer Dave Grohl brought the group together as a one-man project after the disbanding of his old band named Nirvana, in the year 1994. Before the release of the band's first album in the year 1995, Grohl got two members of the former band called Sunny Day Real Estate, Nate Mendel as bassist and William Goldsmith as drummer, as well as fellow Nirvana partner Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the group. They began with performances in places like Portland and Oregon, before gaining popularity all over the USA. Goldsmith left during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997), and Smear's departu
re followed later. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl left before the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).
Chris Shiflett joined as the third guitarist in the band after the completion of their album “There Is Nothing Left to Lose”. The band came out with its fourth album, One by One, in the year 2002. The group followed that with the release of the two-disc feature In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and harder-rocking material for the respective fans. Foo Fighters released its sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007. In 2010, it was confirmed that Smear had officially rejoined the band he once left.
Across the band's time on the charts, three of its albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, and all six have been nominated for Grammys.
When Grohl first started the band, the music was many times compared to that of his previous group, Nirvana. Grohl acknowledged that the Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain was a big influence on his songwriting styles and lyrics. Grohl said, "Through Kurt, I saw the beauty of minimalism and the importance of music that's stripped down." Foo Fighters also utilize the technique of shifting through soft verses and loud chorus, which Grohl said was because of the members of Nirvana "liking the Knack, Bay City Rollers, Beatles, and ABBA as much as we liked Flipper and Black Flag, I suppose". Writing and recording songs of the album by himself, Grohl wrote the guitar riffs to be as rhythmic as possible. His approach to the guitar was similar to how he approached playing a drumkit
