Felice Orsini (1819-1858) was a Italian political activist, a member of the Carbonari secret revolutionary group, who attempted unsuccessfully to assassinate Napoleon III in Paris in January 1858.
Short Biography:
He was subsequently executed, but the Orsini affair awakened Napoleon's interest in Italy and led to a secret alliance with Piedmont at Pilombieres in 1858, directed against Italy.
