María Eva Duarte de Peron (1919-1952) was a Argentinian populist leader, born in Buenos Aires.
Short Biography:
A successful radio actress, in 1945 she married Juan Peron. After he became president she virtually ran the health and labour ministries, and did a lot of charitable work.
In 1951 she stood for the post of vice president, but was opposed by the army and withdrew; she died of cancer soon afterwards.
