Eugen Baciu (full name Eugen Catalin Baciu) was born on May 25, 1980 in Vaslui, Romania. He is a famous Romanian football player.
Biography and Career :
He started playing professional football in 2000 at a B Division team (second Romanian League) Laminorul Roman. He didn't end the season at Laminorul because after 23 games was remarked by FCM Bacau, a team from the first Romanian League and was transferred.
Eugen Baciu debuted for FCM Bacau on the 12th of May 2001 in a game against Gloria Bistrita, which was won by his team with 2-0.
He played for FCM Bacau between 2001-2005 in 90 games and succeeded to score three goals. His best performance at the Moldavian team was the sixth place in the season 2001-2002.
His skills made him remarked by the scouts from Steaua Buc
harest and at the half of the season 2004-2005 was transferred together with Florin Lovin.
His first coach at Steaua was Walter Zenga who used him in 17 games and Baciu scored one goal and won the champion title.
After Zenga left at the end of that season, the new coach, Protasov, didn't use him very much, only in 9 games.
In the European Cups Baciu debuted with Steaua Bucharest in UEFA Cup in the season 2004-2005. That season was very good for Steaua because they qualified in groups phase, they passed and even succeeded to eliminate in the 1/16 finals Valencia, the ex-winner of UEFA Cup, but Baciu played only four games.
In the next season he played only one match in the qualifiers for UEFA Champions League and two games in UEFA Cup, one of them being the semi-final with Middlebrough. In that game, unfortunately for them, they lost the chance to play the final against FC Sevilla after they were defeated with 4-2 although they had 2-0 after the first part of the game.
Eugen Baciu played only one game for the Romanian national team on the 17th of April 2002 against Poland, which was won by his team with 2-1.
