Ethan Green Hawke was born in Austin, Texas on November 6, 1970 to parents Leslie Carole and James "Jim" Steven Hawke, a high-ranking executive at Conseco. His maternal grandfather, Howard Samuel Green, was a minor league baseball commissioner and had served five terms in the Texas Legislature. Ethan Hawke's parents were students at the University of Texas when he was born and separated in 1974.
