Estelle (full name Estelle Fanta Swaray) was born in West London. Her mother is a Senegalese and her father is a Grenadian.
Biography and Career:
She was born in a large family of 8 children where she was the second. Her family didn't allow secular music; still Estelle got the taste of gospel, traditional African music and even hip-hop in her young days.
She came across the famous Kanye West while she was on a trip to Los Angeles and had boldly asked him to be introduced to John Legend. Later on, in 2004, Estelle debuted with the album "The 18th Day" with the help of John Legend himself. It was released under the label of V2 Records and included the hit singles "1980", "Free" and "Go Gone". In addition
to this, the album also received much critical praise.
Estelle had already moved to New York but also performed as the opening act for John Legend's European tour."
Next up, Estelle released "Shine" under Homeschool label. Its music drew influences from reggae to soul of the '60s. It also featured Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Will.i.am, and Mark Ronson and other known artists.
