Emma de Caunes was born on September 9, 1976, in Paris, France. Her father is a television host and her grandmother was an actress in her native country.

Her acting career began when she was only 10. Emma's godmother, Michele Reiser, made her act in the movie "Remarquable imitation de Lio" (1986). After this, Emma continued her schooling until she got the spot in the Olivier Jahan movie "Vladmire de trop" in 1996.

In 1998, Emma de Caunes acted in the critically acclaimed movie "Un fri¨re". Emma received the award for the Most Promising Actress at the Cesar Awards that year for her performance in this movie.
