Emilio Gino Segre (1905-1989) discovered the antiproton in 1955, an atomic particle with the same mass as the proton, but with negative charge. Short Biography:
He shared the 1959 Nobel Prize for Physics with Owen Chamberlain. Segre had earlier discovered the first synthetic element technetium (atomic number 43) in 1937.
