Elisabeth Moss was born on July 24, 1982, in Los Angeles. Her father is a jazz musician. Thus, young Elisabeth grew up in an atmosphere where she was constantly influenced to follow the path of arts. She started taking ballet dancing lessons when she was 5 and tried out for a getting a breakthrough in the television industry.

At the age of 8, in the year 1990, Elisabeth acted for the first time on television in the movie Bar Girls. She also got a role in the series Lucky Chances in 1990. In 1994, she was seen in the movie Imaginary Crimes as Greta Weiler and then in The Last Supper (1995), featuring Cameron Diaz.

Elisabeth Moss also got a spot on the series Picket Fences on CBS. Thereafter, she acted in a number of series and, in 1999, landed a role in the movie Girl, Interrupted. In later part of 1999, she played the role of Zoey in the popular show The West Wing. Her performance in this series nominated her for the Young Artist Awards.

Her next movie was Virgin (2003) for which she received a nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards for the Best Female Lead. She also acted in a number of shows like Medium and The Practice. Elisabeth got some good publicity with her role in the series Mad Men. The show was nominated for the Emmy for a record number of times.
