Elie Wiesel Elie Wiesel, (born in 1928) was held in Buch-enwald concentration camp during World War II, and has assiduously documented wartime atrocities against the Jews in an effort to alert the world to the dangers of racism and violence.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.
