Elena Dementieva (full name Elena Vyacheslavovna Dementieva) was born on October 15, 1981 in Moscow, Russia. She is a talented tennis player who dreams to become a great name in the tennis history.
Biography and Career :
When she was 13 years old she participated at her first tournament at Les Petit As in France. Her career was getting started. In 1998 she became a professional tennis player and one year later managed to enter the Top 100.
Until now (2007) she didn't win any Grand Slam titles, but she played two finals: one at the French Open in 2004 against Anastasia Myskina and one at the US Open in the same year against Svetlana Kuznetsova. In 2002, 2005 and 2007 she played into the fourth round at the Australian Open, but was stopped each time from continuing.

6 she played the quarter-final at Wimbledon, but lost to Maria Sharapova. She won ten tournaments until now (2007): Jurmula, Istanbul, Buchen, Amelia Island, Bali, Shanghai, Hasselt, Tokyo, Los Angeles and again Istanbul between 1996 and 2007. She also won nine titles as a doubles player and she hopes that with hard work and talent will have many victories ahead. Regarding the Fed Cup she is considered the most successful tennis player and until April 2007 her record is 19-5 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
She has a relationship with Buffalo Sabres, which is confirmed on her website. When she is not on the tennis court she likes skiin and playing chess. She speaks fluently Russian and French and she says her favorite tournament is the French Open.
