Dwight Freeney was born on February 19, 1980 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He is an American football player.
Freeney attended Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Connecticut. He got four letters in basketball and baseball, three in football and one in soccer. During his youth, Freenely idolized New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, he met him at a charity golf tournament after turning pro.
A 2-year starter at Syracuse University, he set a school record with 17.5 sacks in his senior season and his 34 career sacks rank first in school history. Freeney once had a string of 17 consecutive games at least one sack. While still in college, Freeney has been clocked at 4.40 second 40 yard dash and recorded 40 inch vertical jump.

Indianapolis Colts with the 11th selection in the 2002 NFL Draft. He set an NFL rookie record back in 2002 with 9 forced fumbles, he was the runner up for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Freeney led the NFL with 16 sacks, in his third season in 2004. At the end of the season he was marked as the 3rd fastest player to acheve 40 sacks.
Freeney helped the Colts defeat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI 2007, and become NFL Champions.
He was the highest paid defensive player in the NFL, having signed a six-year, $72 million contract with $30 million in guarantees, on 13 July, 2007. Freeney was fined $20.000 by the NFL for his expletive-laced interview following the end of the Colts 2008-09 playoff campaign which ended with a 23-17 overtime playoff loss to the Chargers.
