Dorinel Munteanu (full name Dorinel Ionel Munteanu) was born on June 1968 25, in Gradinari, Caras-Severin Romania. He is a Romanian footballplayer and coach.

Biography and Career :

Dorinel Munteanu started playing football in Romanian second league at Metalul Bocsa in 1978 and after at CSM Resita and on the 25th of August 1988 debuted with FC Olt Scornicesti (the local team from Ceausescu natal town) in the first league in a game against Victoria Bucharest. For FC Olt played 2 seasons in 33 games and scored 2 times.

In 1990 when FC Olt stepped out from first league he signed with FC Inter Sibiu. For Inter played 2 seasons and the second was very good for him because played in almost all the games (

33 games) and scored 7 times. For that Dinamo Bucharest transferred him and in two seasons won one champion title and one vice-champion title. He played for Dinamo in 67 games and scored 27 times.
CS Cercle Brugge paid for him 350.000 $ and Munteanu went to Belgium where he played 2 seasons.

Between 1995-1999 he played in Germany for FC Koln in a total of 129 games and succeeded to score 16 times.

From 2000 to the second part of the season 2003-2004 he played for VfL Wolfsburg in 101 games and scored 11 times.

In 2004 Gigi Becali brought him at Steaua Bucharest where he played 2 seasons and succeeded to win the 1st place in the Romanian League 1 with the team.

Dorinel Munteanu went to CFR Cluj where he signed a contract as coach and in the same time a player. He had great performances because he played with his team UEFA Intertoto Cup’s final after defeated teams like St Etienne and Bordeaux. In the final lost against Lens.

In 2006 after a controversy with the president and the boss from CFR Cluj left and became manager at FC Arges Pitesti.

As a player in the European Cups he played in 22 games and scored 1 time.

For Romanian National team he debuted on the 23rd of May 1991 in a game against Norway but they lost with 1-0.

He is the most selected player all time in Romanian national team: 131 times and scored 16 times. He also participated at two European Championships, in engalnd in 1996 and in Belgium & Holland in 2000 and at two World Cups, in USA in 1994 and in France in 1998.
