Dolores Hart was born on October 20, 1938. She is an American actress.
Dolores Hicks was born on October 20, 1938. She is the daughter of Bert Hicks and Harriett Hicks. Her parents separated and divorced when she was only 3 years old.
Hart lived in Chicago with her grandparents. She studied at St. Gregory Catholic School in Chicago. Her grandfather was a movie theater projectionist to whom she turned for comfort in light of her parent's marital problems. Her grandfather's enthusiasm for films influenced her decision of becoming an actress. She used to watch films but without sound so as not to disturb her grandfather in the booth.
When she was 11 she lived with her mother in Beverly Hills. Her moth
er married Al Gordon. She studied at Marymount College and was engaged to a businessman named Don Robinson, before she went to convent.
She used the stage name Dolores Hart in 1956 and she played a supporting role as the love interest to Elvis Presley in a film named Loving You. It was released in 1957. After this appearance she gained a lot of popularity and she made a few more films.
She then appeared on Broadway and won the Theatre World Award in 1959. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress for her role in The Pleasure of His Company. Hart starred in Where the Boys Are in 1960.
She starred in a film named Francis of Assisi in 1961. She went on to star in four more films, including the lead role in The Inspector in 1962. Her last role was opposite Hugh O'Brian in Come Fly with Me in 1963.
She left the film industry and broke off her engagement to Don Robinson to become a Roman Catholic nun.
In 2006, she visited Hollywood again after 43 years in monastery to raise awareness for peripheral idiopathic neuropathy disorder. It is a neurological disorder that afflicts many Americans just like her.
