DJ Sasha (real name Alexander Coe) was born on September 4, 1969, in Bangor, Wales. While staying with his mother, young Alexander loved listening to bands like The The and The Police. Later on, he left his mother to stay with his stepmother and father while he was studying at the Epsom College. His stepmother helped him in learning to play piano.
As a member of The Hacienda of Manchester, he began DJing and travelled to participate in an event. He got a spot to perform regularly at The Hacienda and, later on in 1990, played for Shelley's Laserdrome. At that time, he gravitated towards electronic and trace while his performance earned him a recording contract. Being known as DJ Sasha by that time, he recorded the single "Appolonia". However, Sasha left Shelley's and joined the club Rena
issance after increased violence at his former club.
While he played full time at Renaissance, Sasha concentrated on his albums as well. The result was the track "Together" which entered the UK Singles Chart at #60 and other tracks like "Higher Ground" and "Magic". During this time, he began working with DJ John Digweed at Renaissance. In 1994, the duo released the album "Renaissance - The Mix Collection".
After this release, they stopped performing at Renaissance and began touring. During 1996 and 1997, the album Northern Exposure and its sequel Northern Exposure 2 were released. These albums were well accepted and DJ Sasha received other offers as well. He worked on the remix of the track "Ray of Light" of Madonna and gave music for the game Wipeout 3. Along with establishing Excession, a DJ booking company, DJ Sasha worked on the album Northern Exposure: Expeditions and Communicate with Digweed. The duo also toured for a while till the parting of their ways in 2002.
In 2002, DJ Sasha's first solo work, Airdrawndagger, was released and then the album Involver hit the stores in 2004. He earned a nomination of Grammy Awards for a track of this album. Invol2ver, the follow-up to Involver was released in 2008. He also toured USA with DJ Digweed that year and is keeping up his performances with regular gigs at a number of prestigious and famous clubs.

DJ Sasha is famous as a DJ and music producer. His association with DJ John Digweed brought him in the limelight. He was also nominated for Grammy for his album Involver of 2004.
