Dinah Manoff was born on January 25, 1958. She is an American singer and stage actress.
Dinah Manoff was born in New York City, New York. She is the daughter of Lee Grant and Arnold Manoff.
When she was 17 she got accepted into the actor's studio in New York.
Dinah made her first television appearance in 1966 on the PBS production of The Stronger. She also made guest appearances on Welcome Back, Kotter.
Manoff got the role of Elaine Lefkowitz Dallas on the TV sitcom Soap in 1978. Dinah made it to the big screen for the first time in what is one of her best known roles as Marty Maraschino, one of the Pink Ladies (along with Stockard Channing as Betty Rizzo in the movie named Grease. Manoff
won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play in 1980. She also won the Theatre World Award for her performance in the Broadway play, I Ought to Be in Pictures.
She reprised her role in 1982 for the play's film version. She starred with Walter Matthau and Ann-Margret.
She also played a small role in the movie Ordinary People. The movie won many academy awards.
In 1985 she acted as the songwriter Ellie Greenwich in the Broadway jukebox musical. She played Maggie Peterson in Child's Play in 1988.
Dinah would also start a seven year stint as Carol Weston on Empty Nest. She appeared in many others films like Staying Together, Welcome Home, and Roxy Carmichal in 1990.
After that she only appeared in three more movies. She appeared in The Amati Girls in 2000, in Zigs in 2001 and in Bart Got a Room in 2009. Manoff also co-starred in the television series State of Grace.
She married Arthur Mortell in 1997. They have three children together.
