Lila Diane Sawyer was born around Christmas on 22nd December in 1945. She is known for being a notable journalist on ABC News' channel. She was born in Kentucky State called Glasgow. Her father, Jean Sawyer, was a school teacher. He used to teach small children.
But after Lila was born her family shifted to a place called Louisville, which was also in Kentucky State. Her dad became a Republican politician and also a leader of their community. He was killed in a car accident in 1969. At that time he was a county judge for Kentucky's Jefferson. A park was built in his memory. As a child she attended Seneca High school. Diane Sawyer's career started when she joined Republican Party Politics. It was in 1970 that she was appointed to work with the white house administration under the then President Richard Nixon. In the year 1978 she joined the CBS news channel and worked as a political correspondent.
After three years of working as a correspondent she became a co-anchor to Bill Kurtis in CBS morning news show. In the year 1989 she quit CBS to work with ABC news channel. There she co-hosted, with Sam Donaldson, the show Primetime Live. In 1999 she make a comeback to her show Good Morning America with his co-host Charles Gibson. When Charles Gibson quit in 2009 she was promoted to take up his place.
Diane Sawyer was nominated as one of the most powerful women in America. This nomination was made by Ladies Home Journal. When Forbes published the list of 100 Most Powerful Women, she ranked 62nd in it. She worked on a documentary A Hidden America: Children of the Mountains earned her the Peabody award in the year 2009.
