Diana Lewis was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She was also known as Mousie Powell.
She began her film career with appearing in her first movie in 1934. The movie was named All the King's Horses. After her first movie she kept appearing in various movies and took various roles in the next few years. Some of her films were hits and she gained popularity. A few of her notable films were It's a Gift in 1934, Gold Diggers in Paris in 1938, Go West in 1940, Johnny Eager in 1942 and many more.
She also appeared in the movie Andy Hardy Meets Debutante in 1940. She appeared as the love interest of Andy Hardy playing the role of
Daphne Fowler.
Lewis met the actor William Powell in 1940. They married after a courtship of three weeks and then she retired from acting in 1943. The couple remained together until her husband's death in 1984.
Lewis died from pancreatic cancer in Rancho Mirage, California. She died on January 18, 1997. She was aged 77, and was interred at Cathedral City's Desert Memorial Park in Riverside County, alongside her husband Powell, and her stepson, William David Powell who Powell had from his previous relationships.
Lewis was an active supporter of women's golf and the LPGA. The LPGA's William and Mousie Powell Award is named in honor of the Powell's.
