Diablo Cody (real name Brook Busey) was born on June 14, 1978, in Lemont, Illinois. After completing high school, she entered the University of Iowa to pursue Media Studies. While there, she developed an active interest to follow arts as her career. She had worked as a DJ at the University's radio station.
After college, Brook worked as a secretary and began writing in her blog. It was through her blog that she became popular on the internet and, soon, developed a relationship with musician Jonny Hunt. She settled with Jonny at Minneapolis and took the name of Diablo Cody. While with Jonny, she began writing her blog "The Pussy Ranch" and also took up the job of a stripper.
Her blog earned her an offer to write a book on her life in the adult entertainment industry. Thus, in 2003, th
e book Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper was published. The book received quite good critical approval.
Following this, Diablo wrote a story, titled Juno, about a pregnant teenage girl. The script was later made into movie in December 2007 by director Jason Reitman. The movie earned Diablo Cody the award for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscar in February 2008.
