Debby was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on September 22, 1956. She is the daughter of Pat and Shirley Lee Foley Boone. She started touring with her family when she was only 14 years old. They recorded music as the Pat Boone Family and then the sisters recorded their music as the Boone sisters where Debby used to be the lead vocalist.
Boone released her first solo album in 1977. The song You Light Up My Life became a great hit and remained on the top charts for a long time. She won various awards for this song including a Grammy Award. The song was basically written and produced by Joe Brooks and he won 1978 Gra
mmy and Oscar awards for this song. The song was performed by Boone in both the shows.
Boone gained a lot of popularity and her success led her to tour with her father. She appeared as guest is various television shows but she wasn't able to continue her success with her future songs due to which she turned towards another genre of music.

Boone's children grew old so she came back to release an album in 2005 named Reflections of Rosemary which she paid a tribute to her mother in law.
