David Cross was born on April 4, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia. In his school, he was widely known as the most humorous student and, later on, he dedicated his life and profession to spread humour among others.
He began performing in stand-up comedy shows from the age of 17. After completing high school, he went to
Boston to establish foothold in the field of humour. He entered the group named “This is Pathetic” who specialised in sketch-comedy. David Cross began to learn and develop his talents with this group as the years passed by.
Cross had managed to spread his name by the end of the 1980s and found a spot as a writer on The Ben Stiller Show on FOX in 1992. Though the show closed after 13 episodes, it gave him enough e
xposure to get better opportunities which initially led to appearance in small roles in movies like Destiny Turns on the Radio (1995). During this met he came across Bob Odenkirk and the two created the sketch-comedy show named Mr. Show on HBO. The show aired for three years beginning in 1995 and drawing curtains in 1998 and became hugely successful in the comedy scene. The show is said to have established the names of young comedians like Jack Black.
This success was followed by increased scope of acting for David Cross and he was seen in the movie Ghost World (2001) and on the situation comedy named Just Shoot Me for a short time. Apart from being involved with stand-up comedy, he worked on this debut comedy album named Shut Up You Fucking Baby! which was released in 2002.
During 2003, David Cross appeared in the series Arrested Development and the role of Tobias Fünke brought him the biggest success till date. The show received large number of Emmy nominations and ran for three seasons. It was later gossiped that the show would be made into a movie but that is yet to happen. In the meantime, David Cross released his second album, It’s Not Funny, in 2004.
