Biography and Career
David Caruso started his acting career with the 1980 film Getting Wasted. Next few years, Caruso spent his film career in supporting roles in films like First Blood, An Officer and a Gentleman, Blue City, Thief of Hearts, and China Girl.
Caruso also appeared in Twins and Hudson Hawk (1991). Caruso played supporting roles in the crime films King of New York (1990) and Mad Dog and Glory (1992). Caruso also appeared in the crime and cop series on TV that were popular in the 1980s.
In early 1980, he appeared as Tommy Mann, on Hill Street Blues. He also had a recurring role in the Television series Crime Story that ran from 1986 â€“ 1988 on NBC
soon to become his destined vehicle to success. Caruso tasted success in his first significant role as Detective John Kelly on the hit TV series NYPD Blue (1993). Caruso won a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination.
Buoyed by his success in TV, Caruso entered filmdom with new found enthusiasm and confidence. However, he was unable to establish himself as a leading-man despite starring in the crime thriller Kiss of Death. After many flop shows on the big screen, Caruso returned to TV in the CBS law drama series Michael Hayes.
Caruso then returned to donning supporting roles in films like Proof of Life (2000) with Russel Crowe. However, in 2002 he hit jackpot once again in TV in a role of his life time as Lt. Horatio Caine in CSI â€“Miami. With CSI â€“Miami, Caruso found his magic touch again and never looked back.
