Biography and Career
David Bowie (born David Jones) he later changed his name to David Bowie to avoid confusion with the famous Davy Jones. Bowie's early career was a struggle with different forms of music. His first breakthrough came in 1969 with the song Space Oddity.
This song coinciding with the historic landing of man on the moon isbased on the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Bowie seemed to have hit the sweet spot with his next album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy: Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was released in 1972.
In 1975, he released his next ‘soul' album 'Young Americans' which gave him the first major hit number in the USA – Fame. He followed this succe

The Man who fell to Earth (1976) In 1976, David Bowie released Station to Station – his best album. The song Golden years raced to the top of the pop charts. He moved to Berlin to concentrate on producing new albums. In Berlin he worked with Brian Eno and produced Iggy Pop, Low, Heroes (1977) and Lodger (1979)
In 1980 he left Berlin at the same time when his last album Scary Monsters and Super Creeps was making waves. In 1981, Bowie had his next big hit with Queen titled Under Pressure.
While David's acting career flousrished with successful performances in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence (1983) the same could not be said about his music which saw ups and downs. In 1983, his album Let's Dance proved to be a unexpected commercial success after his hit number fame in the US.
