Dania Ramirez was born on November 8, 1979, in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic. She moved to
New York with her family when she was 10 years old. Dania had interests in modelling and began appearing in a number of ads on both paper and screen. She also played volleyball while she was at the Montclair State University.
While in college, Dania acted briefly in Subway Stories on HBO in 1997. There she met director Spike Lee. Her relationship with Spike Lee continued and she was cast in a couple of his movies which included 25th Hour (2002) and She Hate Me (2004). In 2004, she also acted in the movie Fat Albert.
In 2006, Dania Ramirez was seen
in the movie X-Men: The Last Stand as Callisto. In 2008, she appeared in the movies The Fifth Commandment, directed by Jesse V. Johnson. Her other movies in that year were Quarantine and Brooklyn to Manhattan.
Dania Ramirez also acted in a number of television shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Sopranos as Blanca Selgado. She also plays the role of Maya Herrera in the series Heroes.
