Dana Maria Perino, was born on May 9, 1972 in Evanston, Wyoming, U.S. She is an American political commentator for Fox News.
Perino grew up in Denver, Colorado and is Italian-American. In Parker, Colorado, is where she attended Ponderosa High School. She graduated from the University of Southern Colorado. Late on Perino obtained a master degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield. She worked as a daily reported covering the Illinois Capitol for WCIA, while being at University.
Perino met her future husband, Peter McMahon in 1997, while on a flight to Denver. The couple was marred eleven months later.
She and her husband moved in the UK in 1998 for a year, they then moved back to the U.S. an resided in San Diego, California for three years. W
hile living there, Perino has worked in the field of high-tech public affairs.
Perino served from 2005 to 2007 as Deputy Press Secretary. While in the role, she had to communicate many times a day with President Bush’s director of communications, his director of media affairs and his press secretary, she was the one filtering all environment-related media calls for the White House, and in the same time serving as the spokesperson for the natural resource issues.
While Tony Snow underwent treatment for colon cancer, Perino was the Acting White House Press Secretary from March 27 to April 30 2007. Later on Perino was promoted to the rank of Assistant to the President, served under Bush Administration until January 2009.
Perino became a political commentator on Fox News, since leaving the White House, where some of her statements have been criticized.
