She is the daughter of Mirek Dominczyk, a leader in the Polish Solidarity movement. In 1983 she and family moved to New York because they were debarred from Poland because of her father's involvement with Amnesty International and later with Solidarity movement. She completed her graduation in 1998 from Carnegie Mellon. She has majored in drama.
In 1999 she worked with Broadway as Anna Friel's understudy in Patrick Maerber's production of Closer and she has also acted in Enchanted April produced by Broadway in 2003. She is famous for her role as Edmond Dantes for the movie "The Count of Monte Cristo" in 2002. She has also done a few small roles in telev
ision series like 24, Rock Star (2001), Kinsey (2004) and The Five People You Meet in Heaven (2004). She has acted with Chris Noth in 2003 for a thriller "Tough Luck" and a comedy movie "Bad Apple".
She is currently working with Melanie Lynskey for the movie "Helena from the Wedding" and with Ethan Hawke for the movie "Tonight at Noon". She is fluent in English and Polish and she knows a little of Spanish and French.
