Cynthia Nixon (full name Cynthia Ellen Nixon) was born on April 9, 1966, in New York. She acted for the first time on television in the show After School Special on ABC when she was 12.

Her first movie was Little Darlings (1979) with actors like Matt Dillon. She also acted in the Broadway production Great White Way. In 1984, she appeared in two Broadway plays at once. Both of them were hits. After this, she also acted in Let it Ride and The Manhattan Project. Cynthia Nixon appeared in movies and theatres during the beginning of the 90s. She kept acting in plays like The Pelican Belief and some of the plays she performed received the Tony Award.

In 1998, Cynthia Nixon got her biggest publicity till date when she app eared in the show Sex and the City as Miranda Hobbes. For her role in this series, she received an Emmy in 2004.
