Costin Lazar was born on April 24, 1981 in Bucharest, Romania. He is a famous Romanian football player.
Biography and Career :
He started playing football while he was very young. He signed his first professional contract with Sportul Studentesc in 1999. In the first two seasons he played with Sportul in Divizia B (second Romanian league) but in 2001 they succeeded to promote in the first league.
He debuted in "Divizia A" or "Liga 1" (first Romanian league) on the 3rd of August 2001 in a game against Petrolul Ploiesti which was won in a categorical way by his team with 3-0.
Costin Lazar was a basic player for his team and he played in 28 games and he even scored once.
Unfortunately for them Sportul
demoted at the end of season 2002-2003 back in Divizia B, but this situation was only for one season because with Dan Petrescu and Gabi Balint two famous ex Romanian players Sportul turned back in the first league.
Costin Lazar and his team mates had a very good period in that time and after they ended on the 7th place in the first season although they were aspiring for Divizia B in the next season 2005-2006 they fought for the champion title with top teams like Steaua Bucharest and Rapid Bucharest until the last 3 rounds.
In the pause of that season they played in a friendly tour in Turkey where they won the Nazar Cup after they deafeated teams like: Grasshoppers and FC St Gallen.
In the last round they were defeated by Steaua and Rapid and in the end they finished on the 4th place. Most of the Spotul’s players, including Lazar became a target for the top team transfers' campaign. Totally for Sportul, Costin Lazar played in 157 games and scored 11 times.
Because of some problems with the license for playing in Divizia A , Sportul Studentesc was reverted to Divizia B again.
In the beginning of the next season 2006-2007 Lazar played for Sportul, but only one game because he was transferred near Mazilu, the top scorer in Divizia A in the last season, at Rapid Bucharest.
At his new team he became in a short time a basic player.
In the European Cups he debuted with Rapid Bucharest in UEFA Cup in 2006 and after they eliminated RK Sarajevo and Nacional Madeira they qualified in the groups phase in a group with: Panathinaikos Athens, Mlada Boleslav, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Paris Saint-Germain.
He played for the National Romanian team for youth first and on November 12, 2006 he played his first mach for National Romanian team in a mach against Ivory Coast. He also played after this against Nigeria but because of his skills probably in a short time he will become one of the basic players for Romania.
