Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (1873-1954) was a French writer.
Short Biography:
At the age of 20 she married Henri Gauthier-Villars, a journalist known as 'Willy'.
Her four "Claudine" novels, based on her own early life, were written under her husband's direction and signed by him.
Divorced in 1906, she was a striptease and mime artist for a while, but continued to write, for example, "Cheri" in 1920, La Fin de Che'ri (The End of Chiri) in 1926, and Gigi in 1944.
