Cheryl Burke (full name Cheryl Bautista Burke) was born on May 3, 1984, in Atherton, California. As a child, Cheryl took look lessons in ballet dancing from the age of 4 and ballroom dancing by the time she was 10. She participated in her first dancing competition when she was 13. She graduated from school in 2002.
Cheryl Burke participated in national, as well as global dance competitions. In 2005, she won the San Francisco Latin Champion and World Cup Professional Rising Star Latin Champion.
2006 saw her participating in the reality show "Dancing with the Stars" of ABC. She and her teammate Drew Lachey won the second season of the show in February. Following the success of her debut season at "Dancing with the Stars", Cheryl came back during the next season with Emmitt Smith and cl
inched the title for the second time.
In addition to this, Cheryl Burke's amazing choreography in the show gave her a couple of nominations at 2006's Prime Time Emmy. That year, apart from moving to Los Angeles, Cheryl Burke donated a nice sum of money for the International School of the Peninsula, Palo Alto. In a fundraising effort for her childhood school, Cheryl auctioned an hour long dance training record video with Jerry Rice.
In late 2006, she and previous partner Drew Lachey went on a tour for Dancing with the Stars. She participated in the fourth season of the reality show with actor Ian Ziering and reached upto the semis. Cheryl and Lachey started on a tour. They also took part in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
The fifth season of Dancing with the Stars didn't prove fruitful for her as her team was eliminated at an early stage of the competition. Her partner this time was Wayne Newton.
Cheryl went on a tour with Mr. Las Vegas and Lachey during late 2007.
Her own professional dance studio, self-titled as the Cheryl Burke Dance Studio was opened in April 2008 at San Francisco.
Cheryl Burke entered the sixth season of Dancing with the Stars. She and her partner Cristii¡n de la Fuente reached the third place in the contest. She also featured on the shows like Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly.
