Charles Wang was born on August 19, 1944 in Shanghai, China. He is co-founder of Computer Associates International, Inc.
Biography and Career:
In 1952, Charles Wang moved with his family in Queens, New York. He studied at the Brooklyn Tehnical High School in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and the Queens College in New York where he also majored in mathematics. He then started working at the Columbia University.
When he was thirty-one years old he began Computer Associates on credit cards and that's how his career started. In 1994 he wrote the book called "Techno Vision" in order to help executive master technology and after three years he wrote "Techno Vision II".
At fifty-eight years old he decided it was time to retire from Computer Associates. Meanwhile he bought the New York
Islanders hockey franchise and the New York Dragons Arena football franchise.
Now (2007) he is involved in a project as master developer of the Lighthouse, the transformation of the Nassau Coliseum and surrounding 77 acres and he will also build a five-star hotel, an Athletic Complex featuring four ice rinks, a basketball facility and state-of-the-art health club that will serve as the Islanders' practice facility which will also be open to the public, a Sports Technology Center, open air plaza and conference center.
He founded Plainview Properties, which is a real estate firm. Except al these he is helping the community through Make a Wish Foundation and Smile Train. He also built the Chinatown Health Clinic and donates millions of dollars every year.
