Chip was in a Billy Crystal film "61*" ....about Roger Maris breaking Babe Ruth's home run record.
Good film ....filmed for the most part at L.A. Coliseum made to look like Tiger Stadium.
Chip was selected to play Kevin Maris and was billed as "Chip" Esten, rather than Charles Esten.
I happened to be in the film, too, as an extra ....I was the "camera man", but that part was cut and I was also in five or six shots of the "stadium" crowd.
All the "extras" and "background" players were costumed in 50's clothes.
Pretty good film .....never made the big bucks, however.
I'm also president of the Newport Beach Chip Esten Fan Club .....my three daughters are, chronologically, the vice-president, secretary and treasurer .....we have no bucks in the treasury, however, and I don't know if Chip knows or cares about our fan club!
That's life, I imagine.
Chip's still working ....New Adventures of Old Christine, The Office and a couple of other TV productions.
