Charles A. Ray

Charles A. Ray Charles A. Ray (Charles Aaron Ray) was born in Center, TX and is an American diplomat.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1982. He was U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia (2002-2005), and in 1998 was appointed the first U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
He was Diplomat-in residence at the University of Houston from 2005-2006, and in 2006 was appoiinted Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for POW/Missing Personnel Affairs and Director of the Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office.

He is the author of "Things I Learned from my Grandmother about Leadership and Life," and writes about leadership and social issues at http://www.redroom.com/author/charles-a-ray/.

He was a feature writer and editorial cartoonist for the Spring Lake (NC) News in the 1970s, and did writing, photography, and art for publications such as Asia Magazine, Ebony, Essence, Eagle and Swan, and Buffalo Soldier.

He is married to Myung Wook soe of Seoul, Korea and resides in North Potomac, MD.
