Catalin Munteanu (full name Catalin Constantin Munteanu) was born on January 26, 1986 in Bucharest, Romania. He is a famous football player.
Biography and Career :
Catalin Munteanu started his professional career at the age of 17 at Steaua Bucharest and played his first official match on the 16th of March 1997 against Rapid Bucharest a traditional “enemy” of Steaua and they won with 3-1.
He played for Steaua 2 seasons in 45 games and scored 22 times. In the both seasons Steaua won the championship and Catalin Munteanu was named “the next Gheorghe Hagi”. At the end of season 1997-1998 Munteanu was transferred in Spain at UD Salamanca
for a huge mount of money for his age: 1.800.000 $.
After the first season in Spain, Salamanca retrograded in the second Spanish division and in 2001 Catalin Munteanu signed for Espaniol Barcelona. He played there only for one season in 12 games and scored once. He went back in Secunda Division at Albacete Balompie.
For Albacete scored only onjce in 3 seasons. After first season Albacete went in Primera Division but Munteanu did’t play in all games, anly in 32 in 2 years. He was transferred to Real Murcia again in Secunda Division.
In 2005 he felt that his career was in a free go down and return in Romania to raise it.
He signed a contract with Dinamo Bucharest but his first season wasn’t very good: he played 10 games and score no goal. In the beginning of the season 2006-2007 Dinamo with Catalin Munteanu as titular has his best start of season in the last 10 years and he succed to give a lot of passes for goals.
He played with Steaua Bucharest in the European Cups and in UEFA Champions League. In 4 games he scored once and in UEFA Cup in 6 games he scored 2 times.
He debuted in Romanian National Team on the 19th of November 1997 in a game against Spain. The games ended with an equal result 1-1. For Romania played in other 16 games and succeeded to score once.
