Cat Power (birth name Charlyn Marie Marshall) was born on January 21, 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She is a singer and songwriter.

Biography and Career :

Her parents are divorced and she spent her childhood traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina; Bartlett, Tennessee; and Georgia and South Carolina between her parents and grandparents.

Because her father was a musician too she loved music ever since she was a child. She decided to abandon high school and go to Atlanta. There she started singing being support for bands like Magic Bone and Opal Foxx Quartet.

In 1992 after moving to New York her career started becoming a successful one and after three years released her debut album, "Dear Sir". Besides that she has released another six albums until now: "Myra Lee", "What Would the Community Think", "Moon Pix", "The Covers Record", "You Are Free" and "The Greatest".

She is a great woman with a beautiful voice and you can realize how talented she is by the number of her fans. She has performed at many festivals and she's done many tours, her fans can't wait her new singles. Until now (2007) she has appeared at several television shows and even in some movies.
