Casey Affleck (full name Caleb Casey Affleck) was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts. He is the brother of Ben Affleck. His parents had divorced and he stayed on with his mother. His mother's acquaintance with a casting director helped him audition for a number of movies in the 80s.
Casey Affleck got his first role in the movie "Lemon Sky" in 1988 and, then, in the movie "The Kennedys of Massachusetts". He learnt acting at the Cambridge Rindge & Latin along with his brother Ben Affleck and Matt damon. He moved to California and had a tough time auditioning for movies until he landed his first role in 1995 in the movie "To Die For". It was directed by Gus Van Sant.
His next movie was "Good Will Hunting" of 1997, written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and
directed by Van Sant. But, Casey had a long run before him till became famous. His next movies were "Desert Blue", "200 Cigarettes" and "American Pie" I & II.
In 2002, he was cast in "Ocean's Eleven" starring George Clooney. The success of the movie made him act in the next two sequels.
After this, Casey began writing and wrote the story of the movie "Gerry" with Matt Damon. It was directed by Van Sant. His next movies were "Lonesome Jim" (2005) and "The Last Kiss" (2006).
In 2007, he acted in Ben Affleck's directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone" and won positive reviews from critics. He also earned an Oscar nomination for the movie "The Assassination of Jesse James".
