Carol Kirkwood was born in Morar, Invernessshire, Scotland and her family name was back then, Mackellaig.

Carol had 7 brothers and sisters and her parents ran a hotel in their home town.
After she took her high school diploma from Lochaber High School in Fort William, she went to Napier University in Edinburgh.
There, she learned Commerce and got her BA.

After she finished her studies, Carol was employed by BBC in 1984.
Carol had a lot of shows, on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4.
In the mid 90`s, Carol joined `The weather channel` and she worked there until it closed down in January 1998. Then, she joined BBC News as a weather presenter.
Carol appeared after that on many of the BBC`s channels, like : BBC News, BBC One, BBC News at Six and at the moment she work s as the weather presenter at BBC Breakfast.

Nowadays, Carol works as a presenter, journalist and weather forecaster.
In 2003 Carol Kirkwood received the award for `best TV weather presenter` at the TRIC Awards. Also, she won that award in 2008 and 2009 but she says the one in 2003 is the most important for her, because it was the first award and it was the first time Weather was included in the TRIC awards(Television and Radio Industry`s Club Awards).
