Carlos Moya was born on August 27, 1976 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He is a professional tennis player.
Biography and Career :
He started playing tennis when he was very young and in 1995 he became a professional player. His coach and the person who is next to him at every tournament and training is Luis Lobo.
Since he became professional he has won nineteen single titles, but no doubles title. The tournaments were won between 1995 and 2006 and some of the most important were at Monte Carlo, Estoril, Acapulco, Cincinnati, Barcelona, Rome or Buenos Aires. In the final he defeated players like Patrick Rafter, Álex Corretja, David Ferrer, Lleyton Hewitt, Marat Safin, David Nalbandian or Guillermo Coria. He had also played another twenty-two finals between 1996 and 2007.
In
2004 he won the Davis Cup with his team, the Spanish team. On June 8, 1998 he became the winner of the French Open title. It was a great title and a great tournament for him that year.
He won the Grand Slam Tournament by winning the final against Alex Corretja in straight sets, with the score 6-3, 7-5, 6-3. One year earlier he played the final of another Grand Slam Tournament, the Australian Open. Famous Pete Sampras beat him with the score 2-6, 3-6, 3-6.
In 2001 he reached the quarter-final at the Australian Open as a single player and also as a doubles player. The same performance was registered at Roland Garros in 2003, 2004 and 2007, but only as a single player. In 1998 he was one of the semi-finalists at the US Open.
He is a great player on clay and not only. His victories and titles prove that and when he will stop playing, we all are going to suffer a big loss.
