Camille Desmoulins (1760-1794) was a French revolutionary, who summoned the mob to arms on 12 July 1789, so precipitating the revolt that culminated in the storming of the Bastille.
Short Biography:
A prominent Jacobin (republican), he was elected to the National Convention in 1792.
His Histoire des Brissotins was largely responsible for the overthrow of the right-wing Girondins, but shortly after he was sent to the guillotine as too moderate.
