Camila Alves was born on January 28, 1982, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In search for a better career in modelling and acting, Camila relocated to New York. There she entered the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
In the beginning of her modelling career, Camila modelled for Triumph's lingeries. She was also seen in a variety of television commercials. As the beginning of her acting career, Camila was spotted in a side-role in Walt Disney's Snow Dogs. Apart from these, she also appeared in music videos for popular artists, viz. "Pulling Me Back" by Chingy in 2006 and "Because Of You" by Ne-Yo in 2007.
Camila Alves was rumoured to be engaged to Matthew McConaughey. In July 2008, the couple gave birth to a baby.
Camila has launched a range of handbags, named Muxo, with her mother.
