Camil Petrescu was born on April 22, 1894 in Bucharest, Romania. He is a prose-writer, playwright, poet and essay writer.
Biography and Career :
In 1913 Camil Petrescu attended University in Bucharest, Philosophy and Letters. Between 1916-1918 he takes part, as a soldier, at a few important military compaigns in the First World War.
The experienced he knew during that period gives him the theme of the novel: "Ultima Noapte de Dragoste, Intaia Noapte de Razboi" (1930). He also writes now the first versions of the dramas: "Jocul Ielelor" (1916-1919) and "Act Venetian"(1919).
Graduated in philosophy, Camil Petrescu finishes the volume of "Verses"(1923) and the drama :"Suflete tari" (1925), in Timisoara
.
1930 is the year that defines the romantic writer Camil Petrescu by his novel "Ultima Noapte de Dragoste, Intaia Noapte de Razboi". Afull success is actually, "Patul lui Procust".
In 1936 he publishes "Teze si Antiteze", and one year later appears "Modalitatea Estetica a Teatrului".
Mihail Sebastian says that Camil Petrescu "brings a deep passion of understanding in life. It is the sense of his existence. His axis mode seats on his passion of understanding".
Liviu Rebreanu sees that Camil Petrescu "puts the same feverish passion in poetry, drama, novel or essay. His inner continuous unrest gives his writings a permanent novelty.
