Biography and Career :
Tariceanu graduated the Technique Construction Institute in Bucharest and he has a master's degree in Mathematics and Informatics.
In 1990 he founded the first private radio station- Radio Contact. Between 1996 and 1997 when Victor Ciorbea was the prime-minister of Romania, he was the minister of Industry and Trade.
From 1996 till 2004 he was deputy in Romania's Parliament and from 2000 till 2004 Tariceanu was vice-president of the parliamentary group of the National Liberal Party and vice-president of the Budget, Finances and Assurances Commission of the Deputy Chamber.
At the 2004 electi
ons he was nominated for the prime-minister function by the Alliance D.A. (Justice and Truth). After the elections being won by Traian Basescu,
Tariceanu was named as prime-minister and he had to form a Govern and to obtain a majority in the Parliament.
Calin Popescu-Tariceanu announced that he intends to quit in Julie 7th 2005 with the purpose of generating anticipated elections. His intention was caused by his laws package for the justice reform rejected by the Constitutional Court. Following his meeting with the European commissaries at Bruxelles, Tariceanu announced that he doesn't want to quit anymore.
He is Romania's prime-minister since December 28, 2004. He is the president of the National Liberal Party and vice- president of the Democratic Liberals European Party.
